Our first priority is the health and safety of our associates. We strive for zero injuries and lost-time accidents. At the end of the day, every Timken associate should return home safely from the job. Any injury occurrence is unacceptable.

Our leadership team is accountable for Timken's overall health and safety system and ensures compliance with our corporate-wide Health and Safety policy. Our environmental, health and safety (EHS) leadership council is responsible for institutionalizing our health and safety practices and driving our safety culture and performance to leadership levels. And, every associate is committed to fostering a team-based safety culture.
Every Timken plant is required to follow an effective health and safety management system. Accident prevention plans form the foundation of this system and include six core elements:
1. Management leadership and associate participation
2. Workplace hazard analysis
3. Accident investigation and data analysis
4. Hazard prevention and control
5. Emergency response
6. Safety and health training
Our team-based health and safety auditing process exemplifies Timken’s commitment to ongoing improvement. Audit teams include both corporate and plant health and safety professionals. The team approach allows Timken associates to share best practices, understand new perspectives and collaborate to develop solutions to a variety of safety matters.
Timken health and safety management system requirements are consistent with both the ANSI Z10 –2005 and OHSAS 18001:1999 standards for Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems. Three plants have achieved third-party certification of compliance with OHSAS 18001: Yantai in China; Jamshedpur, India Plant; and the Sosnowiec, Poland Plant.
