Timken has lead a design shift toward tapered and cylindrical roller bearings in multi-megawatt turbines. These designs provide greater performance potential in the most compact design possible – reducing system size, weight and manufacturing costs.  Our planetary gear bearings and Timken® integrated flexpin bearings are transforming turbine designs by enabling smaller, lighter gears.

Maximizing bearing life and efficiency depends on more than just design. Our capabilities in lubrication, sealing, reliability and bearing remanufacturing assist turbine operators in getting the most out of their equipment. For example, the Timken Online Intelligence System for wind looks at vibration, shock pulses and several other factors to discover problems before they occur in gear drives, generators and shaft bearings. The result is easier maintenance and greater uptime.
