For every aggregate application, there is a Timken solution that can improve uptime and productivity. Here are a few examples:
Jaw Crushers
Bearing speeds and loads are generally moderate in jaw crusher applications, but there are occasions when the load spikes as uncrushable material passes through the chamber. This harsh environment is a constant threat to bearing life. For this problem, Timken suggests our rugged YM and YMB spherical roller bearings. They feature heavy duty machined brass cages designed to withstand shock loading and other challenging conditions.
Impactors
Typical vertical and horizontal impactor designs use spherical roller bearings for flexibility in design and to accommodate misalignment. But other bearing types can be used that endure high rotational speeds and variable loading. For impactors, our engineers suggest heavy duty pillow blocks constructed with either cast iron or cast steel material. These pillow blocks help combat uplift loads and are equipped to handle circulating oil systems that help maintain proper bearing operating temperatures and lubrication.
Cone Crushers
Cone crushers use a wide range of bearings specifically designed for each model’s needs. These applications operate at moderate speeds under heavy loads. Because of the potential for severe shock loads, maximizing load-carrying capability is key. Timken offers a full range of bearings for cone crushers, including designs with fully-machined brass cages for durability.
Conveyors
Bearings in conveyors operate under moderate loads and speeds. The reliability of these bearings is key to the performance of the plant. For these applications, Timken engineers suggest highly reliable products, such as our spherical or ball bearing housed units. Upgraded seals also are available to protect bearings from extreme conditions.
Vibrating Screens
Bearings in vibrating screens operate under high radial loads, temperatures and rotational speeds. They also operate in extremely contaminated environments. Timken offers a complete line of spherical roller bearings for these applications, including the 23 and 33 Series. The 23 Series is more common, but the 33 Series offers higher loads capacity. Cylindrical roller bearings with one-piece machined brass cages are also a good option.
